Class notes
This Week in 6th Grade
We are finished with our geometry unit. This week we will begin our unit on Statistics. 6th graders usually like this unit. Stats is a very social type of math, LOL. We will focus on the measures of center, take surveys, discuss what statistics is and why it's important.
What are we learning?: What is the best way to communicate mathematical findings? What is the best measure of center to use?
-
Monday: Intro to Statistics
-
Tuesday: 11-1 Find the Mean Grapahically
-
Wednesday: 11-1 Mean
-
Thursday: 11-2 Median and Mode
-
Friday: Finding the Mean and Median Practice
This Week in 7th Grade
The class average on the solving equations test was 84%. Nice job 7th grade. These skills are so important and will be used for the rest of their school careers. We are going to continue studying algebra this chapter. In the next several months this type of math will be second nature. This chapter is on functions. We will be studying functions all of next year in 8th grade Algebra 1
What are we learning?: What is a function?
-
Monday: 9-3 Constant Rate of Change and Slope
-
Tuesday: 9-4 Direct Variation
-
Wednesday: 9-4 Direct Variation
-
Thursday: 9-5 Slope-Intercept Form
-
Friday: 9-6 Solve Systems of Equations by Graphing

This Week in 8th Grade
8th grade has their next test this Tuesday.
What are we learning?: What is exponential growth and decay?
-
Monday: Chapter 7 Review
-
Tuesday: Chapter 7 Test
-
Wednesday: Intro to Polynomials and Quadratics
-
Thursday: 8-1 Adding and Subtracting Polynomials
-
Friday: 8-2 Multiplying a Polynomial by a Monomial

Have a great week! ~ Rich Wuebbels

So, you talked throughout the lesson and now your math doesn't math.
Other Reminders:
Just remember Google Classroom is where everything is at. Your child's passwords are all on the first page of their planner so please feel free to copy those down and peek through their accounts often. Here is a video on how to navigate Google Classroom: https://youtu.be/qoOe3ir5iqQ
IXL grading is a little different from other assignments. A 90% "smart score" in IXL is equivalent to 100% in FastDirect. Anything over a 90% is worth up to one bonus point...they add up so I encourage students to try it (especially on the easier assignments).
Regular chapel can be viewed live on our Youtube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3-agaQWl4BGu9bEAh1TbgQ, or on our Facebook page.
Each student's passwords are found in the student planner. Here you can find IXL, rocket math, email, and math textbook codes.
